A Few Habits for Safer Passwords

Digital Basics

Simple account-security habits can make everyday online activity more secure.

Passwords are easy to overlook until an account has a problem. Reusing the same password across several sites can make the impact of one exposed login much larger.

Use a different password for each important account. A reputable password manager can help you create and store long passwords without having to memorize every one. Turn on multi-factor authentication when a service offers it, especially for email and financial accounts.

Be careful with messages that ask you to sign in urgently. Rather than following an unexpected link, open the service's official app or type its known address yourself. These habits cannot remove every risk, but they can improve your basic account security.
